Xiaomi 15T Review

Xiaomi’s 15T doesn’t just dip its toes in flagship territory — it wades right in, waving a “mid-range” price tag like a dare. On paper, it checks nearly every box: a massive AMOLED display, Leica cameras, fast charging, IP68 rating, and a powerful Dimensity chip. But does it hold up when you actually live with it? After a week of testing, here’s how it stacks up.

Design and Build
At first glance, the Xiaomi 15T looks like a premium flagship. Its sleek body, minimal curves, and bold camera island scream sophistication. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, while the rear has a glass-fiber finish that feels surprisingly upscale and grippy. But pick it up, and you’ll notice the one big trade-off — the frame is plastic, not aluminum.

It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does slightly temper the otherwise solid impression. The phone feels sturdy, doesn’t creak, and with an IP68 rating, it can handle the occasional splash or sandy day at the beach. Weighing about 194 grams, it’s not feather-light, but the size and heft give it presence. If you’re coming from a smaller phone, it’ll take both hands to get comfortable — literally.

Still, from a distance, you’d easily mistake it for something twice the price.

Display
The star of the show is the 6.83-inch AMOLED display, boasting a crisp 2772×1280 resolution, silky 120 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness that can punch all the way up to a blinding 3200 nits. Translation? It’s stunning indoors, and outdoors visibility is excellent even under UAE’s unforgiving sun.

Colours are punchy but not oversaturated, contrast is excellent, and HDR10+ plus Dolby Vision support make Netflix sessions pop. Scrolling feels smooth, animations glide, and touch response is razor sharp at 480 Hz.

The only real nitpick? It’s not an adaptive LTPO panel, so you’ll always be running at 120 Hz — great for smoothness, not ideal for battery life. Still, it’s one of the nicest screens you’ll find at this price point.

Performance
Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra runs the show, paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and fast 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. Day-to-day performance is snappy: apps open instantly, multitasking is fluid, and HyperOS (Xiaomi’s Android 16-based UI) feels clean and responsive.

Even with dozens of Chrome tabs, Instagram reels, and a YouTube video or two in the background, the 15T barely breaks a sweat. It’s not the absolute fastest chip on the market, but it’s powerful enough to handle pretty much anything you throw at it.

Thermals are well managed too, though the plastic frame means it holds a bit more warmth under sustained load than metal-framed phones. Still, heat never reached uncomfortable levels.

Camera
The Xiaomi 15T carries its camera credentials proudly — and rightly so. The Leica partnership is more than just a logo this time. The triple-lens setup includes a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide, and a 50 MP 2× telephoto lens.

In daylight, shots are gorgeous — crisp detail, natural colors, and that subtle Leica contrast that makes photos look cinematic without overprocessing. Portraits are excellent, with clean edge detection and pleasing depth.

Low-light performance is impressive for the price. The main sensor captures plenty of light with minimal noise, and the night mode kicks in smoothly. The only weakness? The telephoto lens tops out at 2× optical zoom, so don’t expect periscope-level reach.

Video recording goes up to 4K 60fps, with good stabilization and accurate colour. The video dynamic range is more than capable for creators and casual vloggers alike.

Battery and Charging
Powering it all is a 5,500 mAh battery — a clear step up from the usual 5,000 mAh pack. Combined with the Dimensity chip’s efficiency, it comfortably lasts a full day and then some.

Charging is handled by 67W wired charging, which takes it from 0 to 100% in under an hour. There’s no wireless charging here — a minor omission, but one that helps Xiaomi keep the price lean. The charging brick is included in the box (thankfully), and thermals remain under control even during fast top-ups.

Whether you’re binge-watching, gaming, or just scrolling through social media, the battery life feels reassuringly dependable.

Gaming and Everyday Use
Gamers will find plenty to love here. The Dimensity 8400-Ultra handles most titles with ease, running PUBG Mobile and Genshin Impact on high settings with smooth frame rates. After about 30 minutes, you’ll feel a bit of warmth around the camera module — nothing alarming, just typical heat dissipation.

HyperOS adds small but meaningful touches to gaming, like a Game Turbo mode that optimises performance and touch response. Audio from the stereo speakers is loud and clear. In regular use, the 15T feels effortlessly smooth — no stutters, no hiccups, and plenty of power to spare. It’s a device that can confidently multitask between heavy apps and still stay cool.

Verdict
The Xiaomi 15T is one of those rare phones that hits the Goldilocks zone — not too expensive, not too stripped down. You get a gorgeous display, premium design, strong cameras, all-day battery life, and flagship-level polish without flagship-level pricing.

Sure, there are compromises: a plastic frame, no wireless charging, and a telephoto lens that doesn’t stretch too far. But those are easy to forgive when everything else is this refined. If you’re looking for a phone that feels premium, performs like a flagship, and doesn’t drain your wallet, the Xiaomi 15T is easily one of the best value buys of 2025.
