An IndiGo Airlines passenger flight, originally en route from Chennai to Hyderabad, was compelled to execute an emergency landing back at Chennai International Airport on Sunday after encountering an engine malfunction mid-flight. Fortunately, all 165 individuals aboard, comprising 159 passengers and 6 crew members, are reported to be safe.
The flight, which had departed Chennai at its scheduled time of 3:40 PM with an anticipated arrival in Hyderabad by 5:00 PM, experienced a technical glitch in one of its engines while traversing the airspace over Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. The pilot swiftly identified the issue and alerted Chennai Air Traffic Control (ATC). In response, ATC immediately instructed the aircraft to return for an emergency landing.
The flight performed a safe emergency landing at approximately 4:30 PM, averting a potentially serious incident.
