Abu Dhabi Police have dismissed social media rumours claiming that “red pills” are being distributed in schools, confirming that the reports are completely false.
Brigadier Taher Gharib Al Dhaheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, explained that similar misinformation tends to resurface at the start of every academic year. He emphasized that no such pills exist in any schools or universities across the emirate.
Al Dhaheri noted that misleading information often targets the UAE’s reputation, urging residents to rely on verified, official sources for news and updates. He also warned that some individuals have circulated photos of ordinary pills online, falsely claiming they are dangerous substances.
He further called on the public to treat recovering addicts with empathy and understanding, stressing the importance of continued support after rehabilitation.
In a related effort, Abu Dhabi Police have launched the sixth edition of their “Be Cautious” campaign in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and other agencies. The initiative aims to raise awareness about online fraud and cybercrime, encouraging residents to stay alert and think critically before sharing unverified information.
