Sharjah has taken a significant step to boost its economic landscape and attract investors with the launch of its new “Instant License” service. Spearheaded by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), this initiative is designed to drastically simplify the process of establishing a business in the emirate, allowing entrepreneurs to obtain a commercial license within a single working day.
A key feature of the Instant License is the waiver of requirements for a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract during the first year of operation. This streamlines the initial setup, enabling investors to commence their business activities immediately, thereby reducing bureaucratic hurdles and wait times.
Approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, the Instant License applies specifically to office-based business activities that do not necessitate external approvals from other government bodies. Each license permits up to three employees. After the inaugural year, businesses are expected to fulfill the standard licensing requirements to continue their operations.
SEDD anticipates that this new service will not only attract more investment but also help curb unlicensed business activities by offering a swift and legal pathway to formal establishment. It provides a significant advantage for new investors and existing businesses looking to expand, particularly those aligning with Sharjah’s strategic economic objectives.
Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, emphasized that the initiative underscores Sharjah’s commitment to fostering a supportive and flexible regulatory environment conducive to long-term economic growth and stability. He highlighted that this move aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.
The Instant License is a crucial component of SEDD’s broader strategy to diversify the economy and ensure sustainable growth, enhancing Sharjah’s appeal as a vibrant hub for innovation, opportunity, and investment regionally and globally.
