A tragic loss has left both family and classmates reeling after 17-year-old Aisha Mariam, a Grade 11 student at Sharjah Indian School, died from a sudden cardiac arrest on Wednesday afternoon.
Described by relatives and teachers as cheerful, charismatic, and always ready to help others, Aisha was found unresponsive at her home in Sharjah and pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. “She was always smiling and always ready to help anyone,” her uncle said, recalling her active involvement in school life and sports.
The teenager had spent the previous night with cousins and was reportedly in good health, participating in activities like football and tennis. Teachers remembered her as a bright student with a strong academic record, involved in multiple school events.
Her family, who had relocated from Al Ain to Sharjah two years ago, is struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss. They are making arrangements to repatriate her body to India, while relatives say the shock of her passing has left them devastated. Aisha is survived by her parents and two younger siblings.
School officials expressed deep sorrow over the incident and noted that her unexpected death has been particularly alarming given her healthy lifestyle and clean medical history. They emphasised the importance of awareness about sudden cardiac events, especially among young, active individuals.
In a similar case earlier this year, another young expatriate in the UAE also died suddenly from cardiac arrest, underlining the rare but serious nature of such incidents.
