Priyal Bhartia, the Co-founder of Super Duper Studio, says, the sheer creativity and authenticity of children fascinates her
Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
My friend and colleague Iram and I are the co-founders of Super Duper Studio, a creative space designed for children that just opened in Dubai. Our typical day is dynamic and multifaceted ranging from overseeing daily operations and developing programming to managing social media strategy and solving real-time challenges. As founders, we wear many hats and remain deeply involved in every aspect of the business.
Did you always know that working in the industry you represent was what you wanted to do? How did you decide on it?
My professional background wasn’t initially in the children’s space. However, after becoming a parent, I became increasingly aware of the gaps in creative outlets available for kids. I found myself searching for a space that allowed children to express themselves freely and when I couldn’t find one, we were inspired to build it ourselves.
What first got you interested in the industry you work in?
The sheer creativity and authenticity of children fascinates me. But my co-founder Iram and I felt there was a lack of environments that truly honoured that spirit. Most were either overly structured or overly stimulating. Our vision was to create a calm, inspiring space that nurtured imagination without boundaries.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
Building a business from the ground up comes with many challenges. One of the most critical was assembling the right team. Finding designers, contractors, and staff who not only understood our vision but were equally committed to bringing it to life.
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the industry you represent? What do you wish you had known?
Patience is key because everything often takes longer than expected. This is a competitive and rapidly evolving space, so differentiating yourself through exceptional customer experience is crucial. Focus on creating value, particularly for the children and families you serve, and never underestimate the impact of going the extra mile.
What do you do to unwind after work?
Spending time with my children. I also enjoy playing mahjong – it’s a great way to relax and reset.
