On Thursday, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Arada, inaugurated the Quran Mosque in Aljada, one of the emirate’s largest mosques.

Spanning 6,388 square metres, the mosque features a column-free interior, offering worshippers an open and seamless prayer space. Sultan bin Ahmed performed the Dhuhr prayer at the opening ceremony.

The mosque can host up to 3,000 worshippers, with 1,600 in the main prayer hall, 1,000 in the courtyard, and 400 in the women’s section.

The Quran Mosque showcases a distinctive architectural design with a circular dome and a 39-metre minaret. Its façade combines minimalist aesthetics with intricate Arabic calligraphy, reflecting a modern Islamic style that aligns with Sharjah’s unique urban character.

Equipped with facilities like private contemplation rooms, residences for the imam and muezzin, ablution areas, and restrooms, the mosque serves both residents and visitors, providing a tranquil spiritual environment and a significant architectural addition to Aljada.

During the ceremony, religious scholar Salem Al Doubi emphasized the role of mosques in Islam as centres of worship, unity, and community engagement.

He noted that mosques foster good deeds and serve as sacred spaces dedicated to God. Referencing the Prophet Muhammad’s establishment of Quba Mosque in Medina, he quoted the Prophet: “Whoever builds a mosque for God, even as small as a sparrow’s nest, God will build for him a house in Paradise.” He prayed for those who contributed to the mosque’s construction.

The Quran Mosque is the first completed in Aljada, with two more planned as part of Arada’s broader community infrastructure development. This initiative underscores Sharjah’s commitment to accessible mosques, promoting social unity and Islamic values across the emirate.

The inauguration was attended by key figures, including Abdullah Khalifa Al Subousi, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Khalifa Al Shaibani, General Manager of Tilal Properties, along with other dignitaries.
