VAIO Makes a Comeback, Launches new S Series Laptops at Computex

Reporting from Taipei, Taiwan: Sony split off the VAIO laptop range four years ago now and we haven’t heard much from VAIO since then… until now. Gadget Voize spotted the brand at Computex Taipei 2018, while scouring for the latest gadgets and gizmos on the event floor.
VAIO has a standalone booth of its own and it is proudly displaying two new laptops in its S Series – the S11 and the S13. These are some seriously sleek and stylish work laptops.

Both the Vaio S11 and S13 use Intel’s 8th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors, and come with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 128GB or 512GB SSD storage. Both devices also come with the option of a 4G LTE module for connectivity on the go and, what looks like, a built-in fingerprint reader.

The major difference between the S11 and S13 is their displays. The S11 has an 11.6-inch Full HD screen, while the S13 boasts a 13.3-inch version of the same IPS screen. The lid of both laptops also acts as a support for the keyboard, lifting the device up to improve the angle for typing.
There’s also a LAN port, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, SD card reader and – curiously – a VGA port. It’s a shame there’s no USB Type-C support, but it’s clear this is still aiming primarily at an Asian market. Most interesting of all is that the entire package weighs just 850-gms for the S11 and 1.07-kgs for the S13.
No pricing info has been shared and we do not know if the laptops will be arriving at the Middle Eastern stores, for now.
