Illumio to Highlight ZTS at GITEX 2023

Illumio has announced its participation at GITEX Global 2023. With a specific focus on breach containment, the company will showcase how Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS) can help organisations stop the spread of breaches and ransomware and improve cyber resilience.
Despite record spending on cybersecurity, the Middle East continues to experience more frequent and devastating breaches. According to IBM’s latest Cost of a Data Breach Report, the annual cost of a data breach for organisations in the Middle East reached SAR 29.9 million in 2023 – the highest in 10 years. The hyperconnectivity that comes with rapid digital transformation in the region makes organisations increasingly vulnerable. Attacks continue to break through perimeter defences and move, often undetected, to access critical assets and infrastructure.
ZTS is a modern security approach that contains and minimizes the impact of breaches and ransomware. Illumio’s ZTS platform stops breaches from spreading across clouds, endpoints, and data centres by continually visualising how workloads and devices are communicating, creating granular policies that only allow wanted and necessary communication, and automatically isolating breaches by restricting lateral movement proactively or during an active attack.
Visitors to the Illumio stand will be able to engage with Zero Trust and micro segmentation subject matter experts and see first-hand how Illumio can strengthen cyber resilience through demonstrations of several ZTS use cases including:

Ransomware containment
IT / OT convergence
Workload and endpoint segmentation
Cloud Security
 Azure Firewall policy management

Illumio experts will also be delivering presentations on several security topics including:
Transforming cyber-security to maintain supply in the IoT era (18th October, 12.00 – 12.20pm at X-Lab Security, Hall 24)
Understanding & Combating Ransomware Capabilities (18th October, 1:30 – 1:45pm at Dark Stage, Hall 23)
Security at Business Speed: Securing Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networks (October 19th, 2:20 pm – 2:40 pm at X-Lab Security, Hall 24)
The answer to AI attacks is not more AI (CyberKnight Booth D560, Hall 25)

Microsegmentation is now recognised globally as a necessary and effective approach to reducing the impact of cyberattacks. According to the recent Gartner Market Guide for Microsegmentation, by 2026, 60% of enterprises working towards a Zero Trust architecture will use more than one deployment form of microsegmentation, which is up from less than 5% in 2023.
Ashraf Daqqa, Regional Sales Director for META at Illumio says: “The Middle East is one of the most ambitious and digitally connected regions in the world. But the rapid adoption of cutting-edge technologies like AI and the IoT, as well as mass adoption of cloud, is increasing the attack surface for organisations and bringing new security challenges.
“Organisations urgently need to implement a Zero Trust architecture to build resilience to inevitable breaches and reduce risk from cyberattacks, especially as adoption of AI by criminals increases. Just as AI can be used for good, it can also learn malicious behaviour to identify vulnerabilities, so organisations must reduce the learning surface with Zero Trust Segmentation – a key pillar of any Zero Trust strategy. Instead of identifying and blocking bad communications, Zero Trust Segmentation focuses on finding the good and only allowing traffic that is critical.”
