ASUS today announced the launch of Exploring Cloud Computing and the Eduverse, a global webinar that uncovers the connections between cloud computing, the metaverse, and the future of education. With insights from leading education-technology experts at ASUS, Intel, and Google, paired with provocative commentary from researchers working at the intersection of education and futurism, this webinar will review the challenges and opportunities ahead as schools endeavor to prepare students to become the workforce of the future. The webinar will be hosted across two sessions, on February 16 and 17, 2022, and is free to attend. Registration is open now, at https://asus.click/eduwebinar_PR.
The conversation will explore the ongoing evolution of cloud-based hardware and software solutions, with commentary from experts including Chris Whiteman, Sales Director at ASUS, Cigdem Ertem, Global Director for Education and Public Sector Sales for Intel, and Stephen Fang, K-12 Cloud Leader at Google. Meanwhile, Graham Brown-Martin, best-selling author of Learning {Re}imagined, will help ensure that the discussion is also forward-thinking and provocative, along with panel moderator, world-renowned futurist, author, and professor at Arizona State University’s Global Futures Laboratory, Brian David Johnson. Each panelist was selected for their unique perspective on the past, present, and future of education, with an emphasis on the very real challenges that schools and school systems currently face, but also hopeful and exciting solutions.

The pandemic has forced educators to rethink outdated approaches to learning, and in many cases, collaborate with technologists to develop remote and hybrid learning options. But transformation doesn’t always just happen seamlessly, and now schools must mediate the technical tug-of-war between digital and physical learning – without overwhelming teachers, frustrating IT staff, or potentially even leaving less technologically-enabled students behind.
Cloud-based computing has emerged as one major solution for helping educators to bridge those gaps, empowering schools to deploy an infinite range of online learning tools affordably and sustainably. And while cloud computing isn’t new, schools have only recently accelerated the adoption of cloud-based solutions, moving away from legacy and locally-hosted services to cloud-based systems to keep students learning amidst the ongoing disruption. During the webinar, panelists will highlight how various stakeholders across K-12 and higher education are using time-tested cloud computing technology in new ways, with a focus on enhancing remote, hybrid, and in-person learning.
One such exciting solution may be the space where education and the metaverse meet – a destination dubbed the ‘eduverse’. As the cloud empowers schools and teachers to expand beyond the walls of a classroom, the metaverse has emerged as another potential environment to make teaching and learning more engaging. The discussion will explore how the mass adoption of cloud computing might lead to schools embracing the metaverse, as well as how shifts to the metaverse might impact the future of learning, and prepare students for the brave new world of hybrid work.
